MINTP meet with Stakeholders to refine the modality for rehabilitation of rural roads

A two days seminar organised by the Ministry of Public Works in Mbalmayo from the 17-18 July 2014, chaired by the Divisional Officer (DO) Mr. DJIKDENT EMMANUEL of Nyong et So’o Division, the General Inspector In-charge of Technical Question No3 Mr. NTEP JACQUES and the Head of Division of Corporation and Partnership Mr. KINDA VALENTINE WIRNGO, of the Ministry of Public works, under the Theme: Capacity building of stakeholders, transferring of powers and resources to municipal council officials .

From 2011 to 2013 the Ministry of Public Works place about 26 billion CFAF to equip more than 104 council nationwide to construct, rehabilitate, care and manage firms in the East, South, Centre and Southwest Regions as well as to care for rural roads. With the decentralization process, they are request to control and manage the proper execution of such projects in their communities, and thus, previously under their responsibility of different administration. in order to perfect the development in the municipalities, MINTP organized this seminar in order to improve on the procedures involved by transferring resources and competence, which is necessary to train them for the first stage of the workshop taking place in Mbalmayo with the municipal authorities of the Southern zoon, in line with series of exhibitions particularly to the municipal judges whose role is focus on management and development of the cities and local communities.

Speaking during the seminar, the Divisional Officer, express his gratitude to the Minister of Public works Patrice AMBA SALLA, for his grate work on road network and for making it possible for the seminar to become a successful one, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization and the National decentralization Board. He recalled the financial budgetary in 2011, 900 million were transferred to the construction; rehabilitation, maintenance 300 million CFAF, rehabilitation of equipment for high intensity of labour work, 500 million CFAF for construction, rehabilitation, maintenance and management of tanks crossing the East, South, Centre and Southwest region, 300 million CFAF for road maintenance by municipal councils. In 2013, 900 million were transferred for construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of ferries.

Talking with the frameworks of the training programme the Head of the Division of Corporation and Partnership said, the seminar is to create collaboration with the municipal authorities and MINTP to facilitate construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of rural roads and application of approaches to intensive development of road infrastructure. Furthermore, it will help MINTP to understand the various problems they encountered in the field.
