The Ministry of Public Works in action: Reception of the Malingo-junction-Bulu-Native-Bulu-Blind asphalt road

The City of Buea South-West region celebrated with pomp while receiving the delegations from Yaounde and Douala for the reception of the Malingo junction-Bulu-Native, Tole-Bulu-Blind-Bulu-Native tarred road, as part of the projects of the fiftieth anniversary of reunification of Cameroon, executed by the Ministry of Public Works. The said project was supervised by EKANI Firmin, Civil Engineer at the Ministry of Public Works.
The Minitry of Public Works undertook three major projects, with as Mission the technical control, the supervision and the work of asphalting the three major project namely; the Mile-4-Wotutu-Sasse-Buea road (Mermoze hotel) thereby suspending the Malingo-Junction Bulu-Native-Tole (7km) road, Bulu-Blind-Native (4km). The Muyuka (intersection RN8) Mpundu-Mondoni (intersection NR3 18.9km) was ready before the fiftieth anniversary ceremonies of the reunification of Cameroon, except the Malingo junction Bulu-Native-Tole Bulu-Blind-Native road.
The technical control and supervision of the construction works of the Malingo junction Bulu-Native-Tole Bulu-Blind-Bulu executed by BOFAS SARL Company, whose contract signed on the 4 July 2013, for the total amount of 1.161.178.664 CFAF, for the period of five (5) months. The said project was financed by the Ministry of Public Works (MINTP) and the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT), MINTP assisted with the sum of 5.165.178.664 CFAF and MINEPAT with the sum of 996.000.000 CFAF, in order to execute this project. Much effort was made by visiting the site often to evaluate the work and having working session with the project team. According to the contractors, many difficulties were encountered and that was why they went beyond the timeframe. The company remobilized on the 25 September 2013 and was evaluated on October 2, 2013, giving the overall progress of 34.23% for a period of consumption of 76.30%. Indeed, the multiple site monitoring visits enabled the personnel to better control the contractors and see to how fast the works were executed, even though the Bulu Blind Native sloppy posed a lot of problems.
