     Title: MINTP goes digital
AREO, SIG and HDM4 software will enable the staff of the central services and users to keep abreast of the state of the national road network

On 31 July 2013, the Minister for Public Works, Patrice AMBA SALLA presided over the opening ceremony of the seminar on “the popularization of the applications of the Digital Information Processing Centre (CTIN) at the Ministry of Public Works”. The objective of the seminar was to present the central platform for the basic management of “trade applications” (applications particular to the roads and engineering structures sector) from the geographical road referential of Cameroon. For 3 days, the Computer Unit of the Ministry of Public Works showed the staff of the Operational Departments and the different stakeholders of the road sub-sector, the importance of AREO, SIG and HDM4 software among others. They can henceforth obtain all the updated data on the management of engineering structures and roads in Cameroon, in addition to the production of maps. On the other hand, the Ministry of Public Works through the Digital Information Processing Centre intends to manage its information on roads in order to better ensure the programming and planning of operations on the national road network. To carry out this mission, the Digital Information Processing Centre shall benefit from the data collected on the field at source by the various Operational Departments of that Ministry, as well as the results of studies conducted by some institutions like SODECOTON. According to the Minister for Public Works, this is a scientific approach to facilitate and modernize the information system in MINTP central administration. He thus called upon all the participants at this seminar to be more committed. The seminar ended on 2 August 2013.
